Water Heater Service in San Diego
No hot water, or a tank that’s leaking? We’ll tell you if it’s worth fixing or time for a new one.
The fix
We check the burner or elements, the thermostat, the connections and the venting. San Diego’s hard water leaves sediment in the tank, and that’s often what the rumbling is. If it’s a bad part, we fix it. If the tank itself is leaking, it has to be replaced, and we’ll install the new one with the seismic straps California requires.
Signs it’s time to call
- No hot water, or it runs out after one shower
- Popping or rumbling when it heats up
- Water on the floor around the base
- Rusty or brown hot water
When we’re done
Everything working again, and a quick rundown of what we fixed. If we notice anything else that could turn into a problem, we’ll point it out.
What it costs
These ranges are typical for San Diego, not a quote. Every house is a little different, so we take a look first and give you an exact price before any work starts.
| Job | Typical price |
|---|---|
| Water heater repair (pilot, gas valve, thermocouple or element) | $200–$600 |
| New 40–50 gallon gas tank, installed with permit and haul-away | $1,200–$3,000 |
Tank size, fuel type and any code upgrades the install needs move the price the most.
