Plumbing FAQs

These are the questions we get asked the most. Don’t see yours? Give us a call.

What should I do if a pipe is leaking?

Turn off the water first. The main shutoff is usually near the water meter or where the line comes into the house, and most sinks and toilets have their own valve underneath. If there’s standing water, stay away from outlets and anything electrical. Then call us.

Why does my drain keep clogging?

Usually something is building up further down the pipe, like grease, hair or tree roots, or the pipe itself has a low spot. Clearing the clog gets things draining again, but it’ll keep coming back until the cause is fixed. Tell us which drains are slow and how often it happens.

Should I repair or replace my water heater?

It depends on how old it is and what went wrong. If a newer heater has a bad part, a repair usually makes sense. If the tank itself is leaking, it has to be replaced. Most tank water heaters last somewhere around 8 to 12 years.

How much will it cost?

We can’t give you an honest number without seeing the problem. We’ll come out, take a look and give you the price before we do any work.

What should I have ready when I call or send a request?

Just tell us what’s wrong, when it started and whether water is leaking right now. Have the service address and a good phone number ready.
